“What is a ‘Weekend’?” - Downton Abbey
Because we were on lockdown for the cyclone this weekend, it didn’t much feel like a weekend. Yet I’m beginning to realize that the split between week and weekend that I’m used to kind of doesn’t exist here. Since we are 9+ hours from EST, most people work in the evenings and thus are free most of the daytime hours. So, on a Monday like today, many of us choose to venture out. I went with a small group an hour north to find some good breakfast and coffee (Which we did, it was actually the best breakfast of my life - see photo below!) and get to the beach for a bit. Unfortunately I didn’t take a photo but the water at the beach was a beautiful light blue and the perfect temp for swimming. We also stopped at a little French bakery on the back and I had a delicious Almond Croissant.
Then we got back and I read/worked by the pool for the afternoon before heading to sunset at the beach. It was still a little cloudy from the storm so not much of a sunset but, as always, it’s more about the people than the place so we had a good time. After that, 6 of us went to grab dinner at an Indian restaurant before heading back home. Now, I’m getting to bed early-ish to be prepared for the 8am hike tomorrow morning. Can’t wait to see the beautiful mountains here and get some photos of the hike!
